The fish from a processing centre at Sakthikulangara run by the Matsyafed is sold to the public through the mobile mart. It also sells ready to cook fish cutlets, prawn chammandi, and fish pickles. Instant fish curry powder by Matsyafed is also available in these mobile fish marts. Matsyafed collects fish from Fishermen development and welfare co-operative societies operating at Kollam Port, Vadi harbour, Saktikulangara, Neendakara, and Azheekal. The mobile marts also deliver lake fish procured from inland fishermen in Sambranikkodi, Kanjirode, and Anchalumoodu who depend on Ashtamudi Lake for fishing. Gurugram school bus attendant gets 20 years in jail for sexual assault of four-year-old
According to the police, while on their way to drop her home, Shambu had taken the girl to rear seat of the bus where he molested her. The prosecution said that there were other students also in the bus when the incident happened. She was later dropped off at the gate of an upscale society, where she was picked up by her parents. Her mother came to know about the incident after the girl complained of pain and was taken to a doctor. The victim's family registered a complaint with the school, which approached the police to lodge an FIR into the matter. Shambu was arrested on August 9, 2016 and was produced before the court next day and was sent to judicial custody. Since then he has been lodged in Bhondsi jail, said police. Vinod Kumar, assistant public prosecutor said girl's parents in their complaint had alleged that Shambu took the victim to the rear seat of the bus where he allegedly molested her. The medical report, statement of the victim, her parents, and police investigations led to Shambu's conviction under section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Monday. 'Considering all the aspects of the case, court refused to show any leniency and awarded the strictest punishment,' said Kumar. After the incident, over 100 parents had protested over alleged security flaws in the school's transport system and raised around 21 issues related to the security concerns they had. Of the 21 points, 10 points pertained to safety issues in buses, and 11 points pertained to safety in the school premises. The issues included the presence of women attendants in the bus, teachers to accompany students until the last stop and police verification of the staff, among others. Parents had also complained about security issues, like teachers not remaining in the bus till the last student got off, replacing buses with SUV vehicles and missing closed circuit television cameras and GPS systems. Karnataka: BJP to focus on 2019 elections after election results
For BJP that came close to forming the government in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan results came as déjà vu with numbers swinging by every hour. Sebi opens offer-for-sale route to more firms
It said the OFS mechanism shall be available to shareholders of companies with market capitalisation of Rs 1,000 crore and more.The capital market watchdog further said if a seller fails to get sufficient demand from non-retail investors at or above the floor price on the day of the offer, the seller has the option to cancel the offer. The Sebi board has also cleared a proposal to change the norms requiring the filing of a fresh offer document for OFS where there is a change in the number of shares offered for sale, or in the estimated issue size, by more than 50 per cent.At present, in case of any increase or decrease in the estimated issue size by over 20 per cent, the fresh filing of the offer document with Sebi is required. Such requirement is for both fresh issues and OFS.In another reform, Sebi allowed custodial services in goods underlying commodity derivative contracts to enable the participation of institutional investors in the commodity derivatives market. Towards this end, the Sebi board approved proposed amendments to the Sebi (Custodian of Securities) Regulations, 1996.This move will mean that existing custodians will be permitted to add commodities as an asset class and provide the physical delivery of both securities and commodities. Bhubaneswar lets old buses die a rusty death
The newly formed Capital Region Urban Transport has changed the mobility scenario in the city by introducing hi-tech buses, but the new entity has failed to maintain the old buses, which are now rusting at the depots.More than 100 such buses, introduced by the erstwhile Bhubaneswar-Puri Transport Services Limited, are lying idle at Pokhariput depot as the authorities have failed to maintain or refurbished them. Some of the buses remain in a dilapidated condition, while some others have housed wild creepers.Moreover, some of the buses, which had remained in a running condition a year ago mainly during the Asian Athletic Championships, now found place at the depot. "We have asked for more manpower and equipment to fix the buses," said a depot official.Soon after launching of the new Mo Bus service, drivers of the old city buses hit the streets, protesting against the government decision to allow the old buses to ply on six routes instead of earlier 14. This has led to confusion among the commuters."The decision was taken keeping in view the recently launched Mo Bus services. In the first phase of the initiative, 100 new buses have started running on nine routes in the city. Now, it is increased to 16 routes. Stubble becomes burning issue in Patna
Nowadays, torching of agriculture fields to clear crop stubble is happening near Patna also," the chief minister told The Telegraph recently. "We don't know who has publicised this practice among the farmers here, but it could have an adverse affect on the pollution levels in the state capital. I have asked district magistrates to curb the practice." A World Health Organisation (WHO) list published earlier this year ranked Patna as the sixth-most polluted city in the world. In recent days, the air quality index (AQI) on the state capital has been faring in the "very poor" band (301-400) with PM2.5 - particulate matter of less than 2.5 microns thickness in size, considered the most potent pollutant threat to human beings - being the major pollutant.On Sunday, the AQI for Patna worsened to 419 and jumped to the "severe" band, which signals that pollution levels could affect healthy people and seriously impact those with existing diseases. The AQI for New Delhi on Sunday was in fact better than Patna at 374.Patna district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi acknowledged that incidents of burning crop stubble have been noticed and said he has directed agriculture officers in the district to stop it to curb for safety reasons."The tendency to burn fields has been witnessed at some places in Patna district. It was not popular in these parts previously and seems to have been picked up from the Punjab-Haryana region. People here also seem to be adopting it to save labour cost for clearing the field of stubble," Ravi said.The basic difference between crop cutting in Bihar and Punjab-Haryana-western Uttar Pradesh has been that people in Bihar use the sickle to cut crop, leaving just around four inches of stubble, which gets mixed in the soil when farmers plough their fields or are easily weeded out.Most farmers in north India, on the other hand, use harvesters to cut crops and the machines leave stubble that is around a foot high or at times more, forcing the tillers to torch them. Rohtas DM Pankaj Dixit said the district has a tradition of burning paddy stubble, which seems to have been brought by agricultural labourers returning home from Punjab and Haryana."We have conducted publicity campaigns to curb the practice and have also warned that legal action will be taken against people indulging in it," Pankaj said.He added that it was difficult to pinpoint who has torched which field first, because by the time government officials reach the spot the fire usually spreads to several plots and none of the local people name the person who lit his field first.
