Khanna: Two laborers die while installing sewage lines; one serious; were working sans safety kits

The deceased were identified as Chandan Paswan (30) and Dil Khush (24)- both natives of Bihar. Raman Kumar (23) who was pulled out alive was admitted at Civil Hospital Khanna. Police recorded his statement on the basis of which FIR has been registered against the contractor and engineer. Inspector Kuljinder Singh SHO Khanna city-1 police station said that an FIR has been registered against the contractor Prem Kumar, engineer Gurwinder Singh and more names maybe nominated as probe progresses. They have been booked under sections 304-A (causing death due to negligence) and 34 (act done with common intention) of IPC. 'Prima facie five men were working ten feet underneath sans any safety kits or equipment. We have booked contractor and Engineer. Work was being done on official orders of local Municipal Council and sewage board,' said SHO. He added that autopsies will be done Thursday and families of deceased were being informed. 'Condition of third laborer is stable. He is conscious now but more tests will be done Thursday to diagnose internal injuries,' he added. Meanwhile local SAD councillor Jeet Singh questioned that with whose permission sewage board was getting such works done in late evening when there was no proper lighting and without safety gears.
