No qualms in doing comic roles: Sapthagiri
Sapthagiri admits that his stint as an assistant director has impacted his choice of films as a lead actor. 'I have played emotional roles that are script-centric in my earlier two films, but in VKG, my role is light-hearted. However, I want all my films to carry a message, and in this film too, there's a message about doing justice to cancer patients,' he explains. Despite playing lead roles, the actor expresses his desire to continue doing comic roles if they excite him. 'I have no qualms in doing comic roles, but honestly, I am not getting any good comic characters,' he shares, adding, 'My image as a comic actor is obstructing me when picking up protagonist roles. But I shall overcome it soon.' Interestingly, as someone who never came to the industry to be a comic, the actor is best known as a comedian. 'I was inspired by filmmakers Krishna Vamsi and Shankar. So I came to the industry to be a director, but a few filmmakers spotted my comic side and started giving me comic roles that eventually turned me into a comedian,' says Sapthagiri, adding that his image as a comedian helped him to generate good openings for his two previous films. ...
