No logic in Bangladesh refusing to play Test series in Pakistan: Coach Misbah-ul-Haq

Misbah said it would be a huge disappointment for the Pakistani players if Bangladesh didn't come in January. "I just think they are making a lame excuse to not come to Pakistan and if this happens it would be a huge injustice to Pakistan. Just when teams are starting to come here and play without any problems, Bangladesh is making lame excuses to avoid us in Tests," said Misbah. Misbah feels that Pakistan cricket had already suffered enough not getting to play Test cricket and if Bangladesh didn't come it meant Pakistan's next Test series would be in the summer of 2020 in England. "Then how can we blame our players if they don't perform. It is never easy for any player to perform after not playing a format for four to five months at a stretch." Misbah also expressed his satisfaction over his team's performance and conceded that it had been a tough three months for him and his team. "We have been through difficult times and that is why this performance is good for us. Especially when we were bowled out for 191 on the first day to come back like this is pleasing. I thought our two openers played really well in the second innings," Misbah said. India's 10-year bonds turn top performer in Asia following RBI's own 'Operation Twist'

With investment and consumption both weak in India, policy makers are trying to spur credit and lift growth from a six-year low. 'The relentless steepening of the yield curve is getting pacified by the RBI coming in and signaling 'I am here to support,'' said Lakshmi Iyer, chief investment officer for fixed income at Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Co. in Mumbai. 'This move brings some sort of sanity check.' The Reserve Bank of India in a statement late Thursday said it will buy 100 billion rupees of the 2029 debt and sell an equal amount of notes maturing next year in an auction on Monday. The concept is similar to Operation Twist used by the Fed in 2011-2012 in an effort to cheapen long-term borrowing and spur bank lending. The Fed then swapped short-term Treasury securities for longer-term government debt, which reduced the gap between two- and 10-year yields. In India, the term premia — difference between the benchmark 10-year yield and the RBI's policy rate — is at 160 basis points. That's higher than the typical spread of less than 100 basis points. The steepening of the curve in the longer end reflects concerns about the government adding to record borrowing as it gets ready to prime the economy. The slowdown has reinforced doubts about the administration meeting its budget aim of 3.3% of GDP this fiscal year. 'The RBI should increase the intensity of its Operation Twist via more vigorous switches of government bonds focused on securities in the tenure of 7-10 year plus,' said Madhavi Arora, economist at Edelweiss Securities Ltd. Future operations will depend on the success of Monday's auction, traders say. 'There's limited appetite for short-end bonds so the RBI will need to offer higher yields,' said Naveen Singh, head of fixed-income trading at ICICI Securities Primary Dealership. FIR against expelled BJP lawmaker in Uttarakhand for 'casteist' remarks

'Based on the complaint of BJP legislator from Jhabreda Deshraj Karnwal, FIR has been lodged against Champion, MLA from Khanpur assembly segment in Haridwar under IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language ), 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman)and relevant sections of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities )Act,' he said. 'We are carrying out investigation in this matter and evidence is being gathered,' Bisht added. When contacted, Champion denied having made any such remarks. 'In April this year, I had challenged Karnwal for a public duel, but he didn't come forward. I have not made any castiest remarks against him or his wife. He is just trying to malign my image. I will give my statement before the officials concerned and tell them what had happened. This is a conspiracy against me but he won't be successful in it,' he said. In July this year, the BJP had expelled Champion for six years from the party after a video surfaced where the lawmaker was seen brandishing guns while dancing. Champion was already under suspension at the time after he had allegedly threatened a journalist. He was among the nine MLAs who had rebelled against former Congress chief minister Harish Rawat in 2016 and joined BJP. Public tussle between the two legislators has been embarrassing for the party for more than a year. In April this year, the rivalry between two warring MLAs from Haridwar had even reached even high court. Champion had filed a police complaint in April this year in Roorkee against Karnwal, for allegedly obtaining false caste certificate in May 2007 from Uttarakhand. He had moved high court, saying he was not satisfied by police's response on his complaint and wanted a free and fair probe on his police complaint. Despite repeated attempts, Karnwal couldn't be contacted for his comments. DailyhuntDisclaimer: This story is auto-aggregated by a computer program and has not been created or edited by Dailyhunt. Sub-panel for settling Rourkela Steel Plant land issues formed

The displaced persons raised the issue of return of unused and surplus land of RSP to the original tribal owners and the officials committed to examine it. The administration plans to identify unused and surplus land and the sub-committee would file a report to the RDC for appropriate action. The Collector further said the RPDAC would recommend the RSP to consider giving employment to eligible displaced persons left behind beyond the list of 1,098 displaced persons that was cleared by the Supreme Court in 1993. The house also impressed upon the RSP authorities to take up CSR projects for peripheral development in consultation with the district administration, elected representatives and the local displaced persons. The RPDAC meeting should be held at frequent intervals for timely settlement of grievances of the displaced persons, claimed president of RSP & Marshalling Yard Displaced Persons' Committee Lachu Oram. The last RPDAC meeting was held in February 2013. While similar decisions were taken, no serious efforts were made to implement them.Sundargarh MP Jual Oram, MLAs from Rourkela, Birmitrapur and Rajgangpur, SP Nayak, Shankar Oram and CS Rajen Ekka respectively, were present, among others. The era of tech monopolies

According to a report put together by the analytics and mobile market data firm App Annie, the top five apps in terms of most downloads in the world were (starting from the most downloaded) Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Snapchat. The first (and top) four of these are now owned by Facebook. Facebook also put in a spirited bid to acquire Snapchat, but hasn't yet managed to bag that one. The next five are Skype, Tiktok, UC Browser, YouTube, and Twitter. The second half of the list shows the increasing dominance of Chinese firms in the app market. Both TikTok (owned by ByteDance) and UC Browser (owned by the Alibaba Group) are headquartered in China. Google (that owns YouTube), Microsoft (that owns Skype) and Twitter are the rest of the competitors at the top. Given the amount of bad press that Facebook has received in the past few years — the Cambridge Analytica scandal, the evident disregard for user privacy, the amplification of misinformation and fake news, even the promotion of violence in countries such as Myanmar — the popularity of Facebook-owned apps is surprising. And all this while it continues to be banned in the world's most populous nation — China. While the company has run into legal trouble in Europe after the introduction of a strict data protection regime, and is currently under investigation over antitrust allegations in the United States, its persistent dominance in the app universe has risks. Others such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple have also managed to create monopolies within different markets. This sort of monopoly and the resulting concentration of manipulable user data within big tech companies must sound alarm bells in the minds of users and governments. Ferran Corominas' brace fires FC Goa to top of ISL standings

Goa were rewarded for their efforts in the 19th minute when Coro drew first blood. Jerry Mawihmingthanga was robbed of the ball in his own half by Brandon, and he did well to find Jackichand. The Manipuri winger produced a defence splitting through ball for Boumous who in turn squared it for Coro inside the box and the striker made no mistake to find the back of the net. Lobera was forced into making a substitution in the 20th minute as Jackichand could not continue after injuring his ankle and Seiminlen Doungel was thrown into action. Odisha were struggling to play out from the back and turned over possession at frequent intervals as they were unable to cope with Goa's high press. Against the run of play, Odisha churned out their first chance of the match when Aridane Santana spotted a run by Guedes and squeezed in a superb through ball for him. But the Argentine's poor first touch let him down and his subsequent shot from a tight angle sailed off-target. Gombau made two changes at the break with Xisco and Gaurav Bora coming off the bench. He was also forced to use his third substitution in the 49th minute as Jerry came off worse after a challenge from Mourtada Fall. Odisha came close to drawing level in the 59th minute when Das' inch-perfect cross was headed towards goal by Xisco but for an alert Mohammad Nawaz, who pulled off a brilliant save to keep the scoreline unchanged. At the other end, Arshdeep Singh did well to stop Doungel's attempt from point-blank range. However, it were Goa who scored the next goal. Brandon scored in the 85th minute with a long-range effort after Arshdeep failed to make a routine save. In the 89th minute, Goa further extended their lead when Coro converted from the spot.
